Pipistrel will produce electric aircrafts in China

The official presentation of cooperation between the Slovenian manufacturer Pipistrel and Chinese company Sino GA Group was held on November 2nd at the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition in Zhu Hai.

The agreement includes building a new aircraft production facility for both models, a runway, and a maintenance and training facility in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province and Yinchuan is worth of more than 500 million Euros. Up to 500 electric aircrafts are planned to be manufactured per year.

Pipistrel official distributor in China is the company Flying Tigers which specializes on manufacturing GA airport construction, aircraft and special public security equipment, glider pilot training, and other GA related operations throughout China.

“Both partners see a clear trend towards green aviation. So, after two years of preparations, they have agreed on transfer of technologies and setting up a new company in China, where electric aircraft will be manufactured, especially the Alpha Electro and Panthera Hybrid models. The production capacity will be more than 500 aircraft per year,” announced the Pipistrel company.

Pipistrel plans to invest some part of the money from this contract into development of a new 19-seat aircraft powered by a hybrid electric technology and hydrogen fuel cells.
